About Tom O'Keefe

Tom O'KeefeTom O’Keefe is the president of the National Association of Investment Professionals (NAIP) which he founded in 1996. NAIP researches the policies of financial institutions that affect both employees and consumers of financial services.

Mr. O’Keefe became a monthly columnist for Registered Representative Magazine in 1997 and wrote over sixty columns on the NAIP’s lobbying efforts in the U.S. Congress, on NAIP’s responses to the regulatory initiatives of the SEC, and on NASD Regulation regarding employment law and the NASD arbitration system. Mr. O’Keefe’s work with this magazine facilitated a close strategic partnership. Mr. O’Keefe also has close ties to other reporters covering financial services industry. Mr. O’Keefe was warning of the shortcomings of the SEC in his column as early as 1998.

NAIP also does research and analysis in areas of securities, employment and arbitration law. NAIP also lobbies Congress on issues that affect registered representatives in the securities industry. Mr. O’Keefe gave testimony to the Senate Banking Committee on mandatory arbitration in 1998. This testimony can be seen on NAIP’s website at www.naip.com.

He created Renew Minnesota in 2006 which has the objective of renewing the environment, politics, health, the economy as well as the arts and religion in Minnesota.

Mr. O’Keefe has also made television appearances on CNN and CNBC in which addressed market structure and regulatory problems and solutions in the financial industry.
